Our Elementary School Education

Serving Kindergarten through Fifth Grade

Elementary school years are some of the most important ones in a child’s development. It’s the time to set the moral and academic foundations that will follow your child for the rest of their lives, and ensure they will lead a Christ-like life. At Saint Anthony Catholic School, we infuse our shared Catholic values and faith into our grade school students’ everyday lives. We, alongside your family, provide our elementary school students with a strong foundation for a lifetime of success and service to God.

Our grade school curriculum provides a quality and Christ-centered education that addresses the needs of the whole child. Through our Catholic faith and challenging core curriculum, we pave the pathway for students to deepen their faith, become attuned to the world, and learn how to serve others.

Academic Programs

At Saint Anthony Catholic School, our academic programs place an emphasis on the importance of vital skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation, along with essential technology skills to keep our children competitive in a digitally-driven world. We use STREAM — Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Math — to guide our curriculum and provide a well-rounded education for our students.

Our rigorous academic curriculum adheres to the standards and benchmarks based on Next Generation Science Standards, ITSE Standards for Technology, Florida State Standards, as set forth by the Diocese of St. Petersburg and the Florida Catholic Conference.

Facilities & Technology

Our school offers a variety of facilities and technology to enrich and enhance our students’ learning, allowing us to continue to provide a modern, effective, and quality education for our students. These resources are used by students under strict supervision, and our school uses back-end software that sets restraints on what students can access to ensure their safety while still being able to use modern tools effectively.

Embracing Technology

We are intentional about embracing technology into the curriculum for our students. We focus on introducing and embedding Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office, and introductory coding to all students. In addition, computers and iPads are readily available to be used as needed in the classroom, allowing our teachers to infuse technology into everyday learning.

Science Lab

Our science lab is a hands-on classroom enrichment resource where students’ learning comes to life. Our elementary students are engaged through weekly STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) labs that encourage collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. In addition, our elementary students have additional hands-on learning experiences throughout their week in their classrooms.

Kindergarten Curriculum

Kindergarten is an important time in a developing child’s life. Our Kindergarten curriculum is designed to help the child grow as a whole person and explore their faith. We educate beyond academic staples like reading and math to help our children grow socially, emotionally, and physically while still preparing them for more advanced learning in later years.

Curriculum Highlights

While we infuse the study of our Catholic faith throughout all academic areas, religious studies integrate culture and life experiences in our lessons, guiding our kindergarten students through a deeper connection to their spiritual journey.

Kindergarten students are consistently engaged in developing the proper social skills and learn how to maintain relationships.

Our students are taught foundational educational skills. Through addressing how children learn, our teachers encourage and shape children’s approach towards learning. This sets the pedagogical foundation for a lifetime of curiosity and a love of learning.

We honor the art of handwriting skills. Handwriting supports a child’s ability to focus and improves memory retention. This core skill will continue to be developed throughout your child’s education at Saint Anthony Catholic School.

Our students take regular lessons in Spanish, Art, and Music to further enrich their learning and gain an appreciation for the arts.

We believe physical activity and time outdoors is important for children. All of our students participate in PE twice a week and enjoy time outdoors at least once per day during recess.

First Grade – Fifth Grade Curriculum

During the elementary years, we focus on building a strong foundation for a lifelong devotion to Christ and service to others. Through Saint Anthony Catholic School’s elementary school curriculum, we promote curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for learning through our unique faith-infused academic program. Throughout their academic journeys, our teachers help our students navigate becoming effective learners.

The community at our school fosters our students’ connection to learning while establishing the important foundational skills needed to excel academically.
